Hello everyone!
Today, I would like to share you some didactic resources that you can find out on the Internet and use them in order to teach measurement in the classroom. I consider that these types of resources will be motivating and entertaining for learners because they will have fun and at the same time, they will be learning and develop their skills on the new technologies.
Moreover, I truly believe that they will understand more effective and meaningful the different concepts that imply the measurement, because it is usually confusing, since they are about subjective concepts in which many students have difficulties to truly understand, so, through providing them these didactic resources, it will be helpful for them.
- First game called “The LONGITUDE”. In this resource, students will learn the different measurements related to the longitude, it is composed by for main activities. The first one is about measuring using the meter and handspans, in the second one, it is about calculating the perimeter of screen dots, the third one is about learning to calculate scales and equivalences; finally, the last activity, it consists on explaining by practical exercises the concept of inch, yard and foot. (If you CLICK here, you’ll see the game).
- The second game, learners will have different levels to pass, through playing this game, they will learn to recognise the different unit of measurement, longitude and capacity, getting familiar to the meter, kilogram and litre concepts. Moreover, in the most difficult levels, they will learn to solve problems and change the unit of measurement. (If you CLICK here, you’ll see the game).
- The last game which is called “The volume and capacity”. In this didactic resource, young learners will have the opportunity to practice with volume using the cube as a reference, the unit of capacity, which is the litre, the students will practice some activities which let them to understand how to measure and change some units to others. Moreover, they will learn the cubic meters and how to measure the volume of different figures and prisms. (If you CLICK here, you'll see the game).
